Things are back in full swing at the library after a somewhat intermittent fall. The most exciting development has been the arrival of the library's new intern, Ivy Marvel. Ivy is currently enrolled at the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science, and for that she certainly has my sympathies. She has been using her starlike powers of visual perception to select and scan images for the image archive. You can see this in action below, where she is clearly a little to enthralled with an image of rat incineration from the excellent Life Science Library volume, Health and Disease.

I, on the other hand, have been marshaling my subpar cataloging powers in hopes of dealing with the backlog of acquisitions that have built up over the past few months. Thankfully there are no images of this, and even if there were, I'm not so sure that I'd post them.

In case you missed it, there was a nice feature on the Reanimation Library in issue 13 of Blanket Magazine. You can download the pdf here. Also, the library now has a presence on Facebook, so if you would like to become a fan, you can do so here.

Finally, I feel the need to share this image, simply because it is so amazing. I would like to point out that, despite the fact that it looks like a Baldessari crossed with a Lichtenstein, this was not created as a work of conceptual or pop art. Rather, it is an illustration from The Invaders Alien Missile Threat, a small book that was recently donated to the library by my father. For obvious reasons, this book has me rethinking my aversion to acquiring fiction.
